Assessment of coronary microcirculation with myocardial contrast echocardiography: current and future clinical applications.
نویسنده
چکیده
Myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) is a relatively new technique that utilises the intravascular injection of microbubbles of air.' As these bubbles traverse the coronary microcirculation, they produce myocardial opacification that can be seen and measured. During their transit through the myocardium these bubbles remain entirely within the intravascular space and, if they are small, they act as tracers of red blood cell flow.23 Thus MCE can be used to assess the coronary microcirculation in the beating heart.

Myocardial Contrast Echocardiography in the Evaluation of Hypertensive Heart Disease
Myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) has an established role in left ventricular assessment by improving the ventricular opacification and endocardial border definition especially in patients with sub-optimal echocardiographic images. With advances in cardiac ultrasound imaging technology and the development of new contrast agents, the clinical utility of this technique has greatly expand...

Myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) allows the assessment of myocardial perfusion by imaging the coronary microcirculation. The development of new contrast agents and new diagnostic tools far assessing myocardial perfusion by means of MCE has led to a new field of applications far patients suffering from ischemic heart disease. Several studies have shown that MCE is a feasible and accura...

New technologies and the availability of new echo-contrast agents have resulted in advances of diagnostic and prognostic indications of left ventricular opacification (LVO) and myocardial perfusion. The clinical diagnostic value of ultrasound contrast media for LVO and its impact on the clinical decision-making process has been demonstrated in several studies. Recent research aims at developing...

Every technology yet to be consolidated needs to be compared with reference methods to evaluate its accuracy. Over the past years, contrast echocardiography has been compared against a variety of standards. In experimental studies, myocardial perfusion data from ultrasound have been compared with the measurements of coronary blood flow obtained by labeled microspheres, or with infarct size foll...
متن کاملPostoperative Assessment of Myocardial Function and Microcirculation in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome by Myocardial Contrast Echocardiography
BACKGROUND Postoperative myocardial function and microcirculation of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) was assessed by myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE). MATERIAL AND METHODS Eighty-nine ACS patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were detected by MCE and two-dimensional ultrasonography before and a month later after PCI respectively. Their myocardial perfusion was e...
